Post-Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme Opens for Applications
July 2024 marked the wider launch of a new initiative, the Post-Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme (PARS).
PARS is an awards scheme for those who have completed an apprenticeship in the UK.
This is a ground breaking development for apprenticeships created through a collaboration between CIFE and the Association of Apprentices (AoA)
PARS recognises the unique educational route offered by apprenticeships. It highlights that completion of an apprenticeship frequently results in individuals who are assets to organisations, possessing the necessary resilience, tenacity, organisational skills, and adaptability successfully to manage integrated employment and study.
For the first time, qualified apprentices who successfully apply for PARS will be able to use post-nominal designations after their name.
PARS was first announced at the House of Lords in November 2023 and received warmly within the sector and FE media. Research conducted with apprentices and employers suggested strong support for a professional recognition scheme. It pointed to the view that award of post nominal designations can elevate the cachet of both the recipient and the apprenticeship route and maintains a continual link to the apprenticeship. PARS aims to:
- support increased retention, normalise full completion and help to improve achievement rates
- contribute to raising parity of esteem
- build awareness of the skills, behaviours and impact that qualified apprentices offer to businesses
PARS is open to completed apprentices from level 2 to 7 (level 5 to 11 in Scotland). The application process is straightforward and completed on a dedicated digital platform. There are four levels of recognition depending on the level and type of apprenticeship completed.
Apprentices, providers and employers can find out more about the Scheme and the post nominal awards on our website here or on the AoA website.
