St. George’s Park is the training home of the 24 England teams, and a national coach education, development and sports science centre for football, sport and business. Through the delivery of national coach education courses, St. George’s Park provides a platform for the communication of The Future Game philosophy, which outlines a vision for the development of English football.
Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) is the official college partner of FA Learning and the National Football Centre, St. George’s Park. The close partnership benefits both organisations, giving college students exciting learning opportunities, whilst helping St. George’s Park fill skills shortages.
The ethos at St. George’s Park is all about inspiring potential, not just on the football field but of all the people who are working for them. A commitment to developing the next generation of talent is a key part of this ethos, both at the football headquarters and the four-star Hilton hotel on the site. St. George’s Park works in partnership with the College to take on apprentices each year in a variety of sectors, including marketing, hospitality and commercial administration.
Sports students also have access to the state of the art training, events and sporting facilities at the site, and have benefitted from big-name guest speakers such as former England defender-and England Manager, Gareth Southgate.
Dawn Ward CBE, Chief Executive and Principal of BSDC said: “Having such a prestigious facility on our doorstep has been a fantastic opportunity for the College. The partnership has been wonderful in helping us raise the aspirations of our students and giving them unique learning experiences. We’re also delighted to be working alongside St. George’s Park to fill skills shortages and develop future talent.”
